What are the Adult Social and Recreational programs?

The Social and Recreational programs are designed to encourage and create opportunities for physical, social and mental well being for our participant.

Are the
Adult Social and Recreational
programs right for you?

The adult social and recreational programs are right for you if:

  • you are 18 years or older;
  • you are a current resident of Hamilton;
  • have ASD with low to moderate support needs;
  • you wish to socialize and participate in programs with others;
  • you qualify through the Developmental Services Ontario (DSO);
  • you can engage in safe behaviour in a group and community setting;
  • you are comfortable sharing support of one staff member with five other participants;
  • you can take care of your own hygiene needs; and
  • you move independently.
What is the focus of the Adult Social and Recreational programs?

The focus of the Adult Social and Recreational Programs is to foster social relationships through recreation, fitness and life skills teaching.

A number of different social and recreational programs are offered to meet the needs and interests of participants

a. Transition to Adulthood Group – a social and recreational group designed to connect individuals making the move into adulthood.
b. Fitness – ever changing and fun approach to a weekly workout.
c. After Hours Club – evening social group involving dinner and a variety of recreational activities.
d. Sports – seasonally inspired sports program centred around team work and good sportsmanship.
e. Alternative to Sports – a more individualized approach to sports and fitness for those less active who want to get moving.
f. Swimming Club – group trips to the local pool for fitness and leisure.
g. Breakfast Club – getting together to enjoy the most important meal of the day.
h. Cooking Club – prepare and eat a meal in a group setting, with leftovers to take home!

WHEN

When do the Adult Social and Recreational programs take place?

Groups run almost every day of the week for the majority of the year. Seasonal breaks may occur depending on the program.

What do the Adult Social and Recreational programs cost?

The majority of this program is subsidized. Additional costs are program specific and will be discussed upon referral.

How do I refer the Adult Social and Recreational programs?

When there is an opening in the social group(s) on your list, someone from Woodview will contact you. At that time, they will give you a start date.

Staff are very supportive, always there when you need them, always trips.
