Brief History Of Our Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Work

Woodview’s commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) has grown through thoughtful, intentional progress grounded in learning and community connection. This journey began in 2018 with the establishment of an internal EDI Committee, creating a foundation for shared dialogue, reflection, and accountability. Initially identified as a key pillar within the organization’s strategic plan, EDI has since evolved into an integrated approach that informs all areas of Woodview’s work. The creation of a full-time EDI Coordinator role has further strengthened this commitment, providing dedicated leadership to advance inclusive practices and foster meaningful staff engagement across the organization.

This evolution is reflected in both structural and cultural change. Woodview has implemented equitable hiring policies and practices to reduce barriers and support a more diverse workforce, while also deepening partnerships within the community, including active participation in Community Immigration Partnerships and community tables. Through these efforts, Woodview continues to cultivate an environment where clients, families, and staff feel a strong sense of belonging, cultural safety, and inclusion.

By embedding EDI into everyday practice, Woodview is building a more responsive, equitable organization that reflects and honours the diverse communities it serves.

Commitment to French Language Services

Under the French Language Services Act, Woodview provides services to clients and families in a designated area (City of Hamilton).

The French language is a historic and honoured language in Ontario and is recognized as an official language in Canada. Woodview is committed to strengthening our ability to deliver services in French in all our service regions (Hamilton, Halton, and Brant).

We are committed to making resources available in the French language including Woodview client orientation documents and materials. We strive to publish public materials in English and French, including our Annual Report.  Woodview’s website can be translated into French by choosing from the drop-down menu on the navigation bar. We work collaboratively with our local partners to prioritize French Language Services in community planning.
