Get loud for mental health!

Mental Health Week is around the corner!  This year you’ll see a name change to better reflect the communities that come together each year to organize and host mental health week events:

Brant, Haldimand, Norfolk Mental Health Week (formerly Brant Mental Health Week) will take place May 3-7, 2021 and just like last year, we’ve gone virtual!

There are many fun and creative ways to get you and your family involved, no matter where you are.  Community and agency partners are hosting exciting events you won’t want to miss, so please scroll down to check out the calendar of events and follow @BHNMentalHealthWeek on Facebook for all events.

May 3rd: All Day
COFFEE HOUSE
Woodview’s youth engagement group, Fortitude Youth View kick’s off Mental Health Week with their annual Coffee House! This year’s theme is ‘Find Your Voice’ and will introduce a youth podcast and feature 20 amazing performances every 30 minutes starting at 8:30am. Watch on Facebook: @BHNMentalHealthWeek 

May 4th: 9am-12pm
EVERYONE IS AN ASSET BUILDER
Woodview’s own Amanda and Brook will present an online workshop where you can learn how to contribute to the health and well-being of children and youth in our community! Register by April 30th by emailing mentalhealthweek@woodview.ca and you’ll receive the Zoom link the morning of the event.

May 4th: 8-9pm
PARENT’S NIGHT IN
Do you need a break? Parker’s Project and Woodview invite you to take a little time for yourself, do a little self care and enjoy connecting with other parents. We’ll chat about wellness and relax while making essential oil infused shower steamers together. RSVP to parkersproject@woodview.ca so they can deliver the materials to you.

BRACELET MAKING
Celebrate Maternal Mental Health Day with Parker’s Project and Woodview as we make affirmation bracelets together! RSVP to parkersproject@woodview.ca to receive the materials.

May 5th: 6-8pm
CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP
PCMH Support Group
Parents and caregivers of children/youth who are experiencing a mental health concern are invited to join our virtual Parents for Children’s Mental Health support group by emailing pcmh@woodview.

May 5th: 7-8pm
MENTAL HEALTH 101
County of Brant Public Library is hosting Mental Health 101 presented by Woodview. Theresa and Angelina will provide an overview of different mental health challenges, tips for mental wellness and how to connect with others for support. The event is free and registration is required! Call the County of Brant Public Library at 519-442-2433 (Mon-Fri 9-5) or register online: brantlibrary.ca/mentalhealth

May 6th: 7pm
BEDTIME STORIES with CHRIS
This fan favourite is back with Woodview’s own storyteller extraordinaire, Chris Clattenburg! Get in your jammies and drop into the @BHNMentalHealthWeek Facebook page with the kids as Chris reads some of her favourite bedtime stories! No registration needed.

The BHN MHW committee is comprised of community partners, the school boards, community members, and two co-facilitators, Lill Petrella from the Canadian Mental Health Association and Christine Dragojlovich from Woodview Mental Health & Autism Services.
