Jaxson’s Story

Ellen and her son Jaxson joined the Youth Overcoming Depression and Anxiety (YODA) program offered by Woodview to find much-needed support. Jaxson had been struggling with confidence, social interaction, and collaboration at school, often opting to work alone and avoiding social activities. With additional pressures from his sibling’s challenges and her own mental health journey, Ellen sought a program that could make a meaningful difference.

Confidence and Connections Blossom

Since starting YODA, Jaxson has blossomed. He now walks to and from school, enjoying the company of peers, and recently achieved a milestone by walking home with a friend for the first time. Ellen proudly shared that Jaxson is no longer hesitant to take risks and has begun setting collaborative goals at school. His confidence is evident in both his interactions and his willingness to embrace new challenges.

The program has not only supported Jaxson but has also offered Ellen a sense of relief and gratitude. Amid her efforts to support her family through multiple challenges, YODA provided a structured space for her and Jaxson to work together on his mental well-being. Ellen notes that Jaxson now values their time together, recognizing the shared commitment to his growth.

What Makes YODA Different?

Ellen describes YODA as the most “organized, enjoyable, thorough, and transferable” program she has encountered. Despite participating in numerous workshops and therapies, YODA stood out for its comprehensive approach and practical skill-building that has immediate and lasting impacts.

With the strides Jaxson has made, Ellen is optimistic about his future. She envisions him continuing to develop social skills, confidence, and resilience, equipping him to tackle new challenges and embrace opportunities with the same positivity he’s shown recently.
