Community Comes Together at Woodview Family Fall Fair 2024

October 10, 2024

Our 2024 AGM / Family Fall Fair, and Sensory Room Unveiling brought over 300 friends, families, and supporters together for a fantastic day of community, celebration, and the shared mission of supporting Woodview’s life-changing programs. We are so grateful to everyone who joined us to make this day unforgettable!

Family Fall Fair

Our 3rd annual AGM & Family Fall Fair was alive with energy and excitement, offering something for everyone! Camo Tangerine, the musical duo of brothers Kosta and Tom, got the crowd moving with hit songs spanning six decades – from U2 to Oasis. Their lively setlist created the perfect backdrop for the day’s festivities.

Our Youth Zone was a hit with teens and kids alike, featuring fun activities like lawn games, button-making, pumpkin painting, and bracelet crafting. We were also thrilled to see attendees supporting the Youth Force team by purchasing their very own colouring books, available for a small donation.

A big thank you to our event sponsors – your support truly made a difference in bringing this event to life!

Volunteer Photographers Captured the Joy

We’re grateful to volunteer photographers Tosha Freitag, Braden McKechnie, and Kim Reich for beautifully capturing the special moments of our Family Fall Fair and Sensory Room Unveiling. Their photos showcase the joy, community, and spirit of the day. Thank you for sharing your talent with us!

A Thanksgiving Keepsake

New this year was our outdoor photo booth!  We were delighted to offer family portraits as a special gift for Thanksgiving, capturing the love and togetherness of the day. One parent shared, “THANK YOU!! We love our portrait and thank you for doing this—it’s the perfect keepsake.”

It was wonderful to see so many families come together, connect, and enjoy the festivities. We’re deeply grateful to our talented photo booth photographers, Braden McKechnie and Woodview’s own Kim Reich, for helping create these cherished memories.  The following families have generously allowed us to share their portraits!

Sensory Room Unveiling

Our newly revitalized sensory room was unveiled! This room, complete with a ball pit, swing, and calming night-sky effects, is a safe, welcoming space for children and youth in Woodview’s programs.

We’re deeply thankful to the generous donors who made this vision possible:

We heard from speakers Executive Director Flora Ennis, Board Member Michelle McGaw, and team members Loveleen Kaur and Allie Duncan who highlighted the sensory room’s therapeutic benefits. A special moment came when Samantha Humphreys shared how this room has transformed her daughter’s experience, providing a safe place to learn and grow.

Another Surprise Donation!

We were thrilled to receive a surprise donation of $2,500 from Burlington Helping Burlington! This generous contribution was raised through their Summer Live Music Series, hosted across three Blk Swan pubs in support of Woodview Mental Health and Autism Services and community partner ROCK. Each event featured local musical talents, including Matty & The Deep Cuts, Station 31, and Amy Lin and Alex Showdra, drawing crowds who enjoyed live music, auctions, and raffles.

Thank you, Burlington Helping Burlington, for your ongoing support!

Thank You

We’re still feeling the glow from this incredible day, which brought together our supporters, friends, and families to celebrate what makes Woodview so special. Thank you to everyone who came out, contributed, and cheered us on! You make a lasting difference in the lives of the children, youth, and families we serve.

We can’t wait to see you next time!
