What is the focus of LEAP Preschool?
LEAP preschool is founded on the principles of the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) and Applied Behavioural Analysis principles (ABA).
In the Early Start Denver Model, children with autism or suspected autism, follow a developmental curriculum. This means they learn specific skills at specific stages of development. Specially designed methods are used to teach the curriculum.
In simple terms, Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) uses principles of learning to change behaviour. Offering rewards for appropriate behaviour is one example. Learn more about Applied Behavioural Analysis and its benefits.
The preschool aims to help children with autism or suspected autism “leap” into successful first years of school. This is done by using the proven techniques and principles of ESDM and ABA to teach them skills in critical areas such as communication, social attention, imitation and play.
LEAP Preschool is overseen by Board Certified Behaviour Analysts who are trained at the advanced level of ESDM and implemented by Instructor Therapists who have received ESDM training.
