Provide services within a community school setting, treating up to 8 complex students (from grades 8 to 10) with mental health challenges as well as supporting their families. Programming includes individual as well as group activities to address presenting concerns.

This position is a 10-month position with a work schedule that coincides with the school year.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES may include but are not limited to:
1. Working within a strength based model to develop, plan and implement therapeutic programming for children experiencing internalizing and externalizing issues
2. Use of client database for daily log notes and the generating of clinical reports per Woodview guidelines, ensuring all reporting requirements are met
3. Work a minimum of one evening per week for family sessions
4. Assisting children with academic support within the day treatment program, as well as during times of integration within the larger school setting
5. Participation in running therapeutic group programming and recreational activities
6. Collaborate and participate in case conferences with other organizations in developing effective intervention plans geared at supporting the children and their family
7. Implement client focused activities, responsive to the needs of clients
8. Receive and assess referrals to the program in collaboration with the team
9. Perform other related duties as required

• Must have Child & Youth Worker (CYW) diploma, Developmental Support Worker (DSW) or Social Service Worker (SSW) diploma or degree/diploma in related field
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in children’s mental health
• A demonstrated ability to work from a strength-based, collaborative perspective with clients and families with complex needs, including anxiety, depression and self-harm
• Sound knowledge and/or experience in the mental health field and an ability to manage the emotional and behavioural needs of clients
• Demonstrated confidence, self-direction and sound judgement in the role of CYW or applicable
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
• Ability to work flexible hours
• Strong ability to communicate concise, accurate information in verbal and written reporting
• Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of job (written/verbal/implied)
• Strong organizational, problem solving and decision making skills
• PMAB and ASIST certification an asset
• Current Police Check, including vulnerable screening
• Knowledge of DBT and CBT are an asset.
• Valid First Aid and CPR (an asset)
• Valid driver’s license and daily use of a reliable vehicle; Class F license an asset
• Second language an asset
