What is Early Identification, Early Intervention, Outreach (EIEIO)?

This full school year program offers a school-based therapeutic program for children ages 6-8 and their families. This is an early identification and early intervention outreach program intended for children showing signs of significant social, emotional and/or behavioural problems and having some difficulty in the school setting and/or at home. This program offers families an opportunity to build on their strengths, skills and relationships.

The EIEIO Program Focuses on:

  • Social skills
  • Peer relationships
  • Individualized educational plan
  • Individual and family counseling
  • Parenting strategies and support
  • Recreational activities

How to Make a Referral

Early Identification, Early Intervention, Outreach Day Treatment:
If a child is 6 to 8 years old and lives in Burlington or Oakville they can be referred to the EIEIO Program. The parents/caregivers must agree to attend an education group.

Acton Day Treatment Program:
If a child is 7-10 years old and lives in North Halton they can be referred to the Acton Day Treatment Program. The parents/caregivers must agree to attend an education group.

After a referral is made the program manager will contact you to arrange a meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to assess if either of these programs can be assistance to you and your child.
