Woodview’s Ontario Autism Program is currently seeking a qualified, skilled and experienced individual to deliver Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI) in a centre-based program in Burlington. This position is a full-time (40hrs/week), 1 year contract position. The immediate start date for this position is March 23, 2018. Interviews for this position will conducted the week of January 22nd, 2018
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Participating in client assessment and treatment planning activities.
  • Mentoring and supporting Instructor Therapists.
  • Contributing knowledge from specific discipline to develop optimum Family Service Plans and Behaviour Plans for each child and family.
  • Contributing to the performance evaluations of Instructor Therapists.
  • Supporting the development of Individualized Service for Instructor Therapists in conjunction with the Clinical Psychologist.
  • Ensuring clinical and other case-level and program-level recording is completed accurately and reliably.
  • Collecting data from Instructor Therapists and providing appropriated summaries required to measure the effectiveness of the programming.
  • Providing one-on-one training or workshops for community service providers in Autism and the principles and strategies of Intensive Behaviour Intervention.
  • Collaborating with EAs, Teachers, SERTS, and Principles in the Halton Public and Catholic School Board to deliver Connections for Students to clients decreasing their time in OAP services and increasing time in the school setting.
  • Providing parent coaching in Centre, the home, and the community.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s level graduate degree in psychology or a related field (or working towards this).
  • We will also consider candidates with other educational backgrounds who have extensive clinical experience in developing intensive behavioural programs for many children with autism in a variety of settings.
  • BCBA certification or working towards this certification.
  • Minimum one year direct clinical experience in an IBI/ABA based Program.
  • An understanding of child development and the impact of autism on the development of behavioural, communication and social skills in preschoolers with autism.
  • A solid understanding of behavioural principles and commitment to an Intensive Behavioural Intervention approach.
  • Experience developing Service Plans, conducting ABLLS and VB-MAPP assessments, FA assessments, and delivering parent coaching.
  • Familiarity with the new OAP mandate and requirements for service.
  • Experience collaborating with Halton Public and Catholic School Boards personnel (i.e. EAs, SERTs, Teachers, Principles, etc.) to support seamless transitions from IBI-type settings to school.
  • Ability to establish rapport and trust with families.
  • Experience in program development, curriculum modification and working on an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to train others in the ABA principles.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
