Woodview, an accredited children’s mental health centre and autism services agency, offers a broad spectrum of services for children and youth facing mental health challenges and individuals of all ages with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. We work in partnership with families who have an integral part to play in the services that are provided. We work together with schools and social service agencies to support individuals and families. We support individuals and families to build on their strengths and reach their potential. Our multidisciplinary teams include social workers, child and youth workers, specialists in autism, psychologists and psychiatrists (consulting) who work together to provide the best services possible.

Woodview’s Hamilton Children’s Autism Programs are currently seeking a qualified and skilled individual to deliver a variety of services based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and in compliance with Ministry standards and requirements. This position provides services and supports to our children and youth populations. The shifts for this position will include but not be limited to, two evenings per week, and two Saturdays per month. Services are focused on skills development in the areas of:

  1. Life Skills
  2. Communication
  3. Social Skills
  4. Behaviour Management/Emotional Regulation


The ASD Counselor (Part Time) is responsible for facilitating learning and the development of a variety of life and social skills through specialized programs provided to clients of various ages with a diagnosis of ASD. These programs may be taught through 1:1 instruction, structured and/or informal group learning opportunities, recreation and leisure activities. Programs may take place in a variety of settings. In addition to the above, key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing case management supports
  • Developing and implementing goals for clients, recording and maintaining relevant notes, tracking client progress and other relevant data as determined by the Program Manager
  • Communicating and collaborating with families
  • Taking leadership and initiative in planning and implementing children, youth, and adult groups, including communicating with families with regard to goals, progress, future planning, etc.
  • Participating in ongoing evaluation and appraisal of effectiveness of all activities and programs
  • Committing to ongoing training and growth in the field of Autism
  • Willing to work flexible hours


  • Diploma or Degree from a recognized community college or university in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorders, Behavioural Sciences, Psychology, or equivalent, and specific professional knowledge and experience working with individuals with ASD is mandatory
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience applying the principles of ABA
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional time management
  • Current certification in first aid, CPR, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention would be an asset
  • Must have a valid G license and the willingness/ability to drive agency vehicles, including acquiring an F-Class license within the first 6 months of employment
