Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI) Pathways

What is Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI) Pathways?

The Pathways Program provides intensive behavioural intervention (IBI) services to children with a formal diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. IBI is the application of the evidence based principles of Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) in an intensive setting to result in behaviour change and improvement. It is an approach to teaching skills based on principles of learning and behaviour.

Skills Developed in IBI:

  • Social Skills
  • Play skills
  • Communication and language skills
  • Independent skills
  • Life skills
  • School readiness skills

The IBI Team

  • Clinical Psychologist (CS)
  • Program Manager
  • Senior Therapist (ST) with BCBA Certification
  • Instructor Therapist (IT)

The IBI team works with all professionals who may be involved with the child: Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologists, school personnel and other professionals.

Assessments Conducted:

  • Curriculum Assessments:
    • The Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills- Revised (ABLLS-R)
    • The Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP)
  • Vineland Adaptive Behaviour Scale
  • Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS)

Once assessments are conducted upon entry, the IBI team works closely with parents to develop an Individualized Service Plan (ISP) which serves to guide the program delivery. Programing is evaluated on an on-going basis with the ST and CS. Semi-annual reviews are conducted to access progress and plan for the next 6 months of service.

The Program offers Half-Day IBI (year round)
