Halton Intensive Program
What is the Halton Intensive Program?
This is an intensive program for families with children between the ages of 6-11 who are experiencing significant social, emotional and/or behavioural problems that make it hard for them to manage in their home, school and/or community and other less intensive supports are not enough. These children may also have complex needs including a mild developmental disability, where mental health issues are the primary area of concern. This program is designed to provide up to six months of intensive service, with up to three months of follow-up support.
The program has a Day Treatment component for those children having difficulty in school settings. The Day Treatment will be available only to those children within the intensive program, and will be individualized based upon client need.
Child and Youth Workers and Social Workers work collaboratively with the family to set goals and develop strategies to achieve them. The program offers families an opportunity to build on their strengths, skills and relationships.
