Board of Directors

Woodview is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors selected from the communities of Halton, Hamilton, and Brantford. Their broad range of skills and experience contribute towards effectively governing the organization in a timely, transparent, and accountable manner.

Harold Goldsmith

Harold joined our Board of Directors in 2006, and became our Board Chair in 2011. Harold is the Senior Manager of Commercial Mortgages at RBC, and brings a variety of financial, strategic planning, and risk management skills to the board. Harold’s leadership style and dedication is valued by the Board, senior management, and the entire staff at Woodview.

Vice Chair

Debora Hume

Debora joined our Board of Directors in 2010, and became our Vice Chair in November 2014. Debora is the Vice President of Lottery Operations for the OLG. Debora has extensive experience leading and working in organizations undergoing substantial transformation. The positions she has held, together with her current role at OLG, have given her significant experience in providing strategic direction and operational advice to large and diverse teams. Debora’s leadership and strategic planning expertise greatly benefit our Board.

Lee Helmer

Lee joined our Board of Directors in 2012. Lee retired in 2014 from his position as Director of North Halton Supports and T.E.A.C.H; a peer support program with Support & Housing. Following his retirement, Lee chaired the Governance/ Nominating Committee of the Board of Directors of Support & Housing. Lee’s 20+ years of senior management experience is a valued asset of our Board. Lee has been involved in a number of not-for-profit committees, including the Mississauga / Halton LHIN. He is the Woodview liaison with youth and Chair of the Human Resources Committee.

Linnea Chamberlain

Linnea joined our Board of Directors in 2013. As Vice President of Chamberlain Architect Services Ltd, Linnea runs the project management arm along with Human Resources and Business Development. Linnea has worked and volunteered across North America and globally for over three decades, and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our Board.

Nina Roy

Nina joined our Board of Directors in 2012. Nina works as a Senior Tax Accountant at BDO Canada LLP, bringing unique financial perspectives and knowledge to our Board. Nina has previously volunteered in fundraising with the Brant Community Healthcare System and in Special Events for the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario, and served on the Executive Committee of Toastmasters International, where she is currently a member.

Laura Langeraap

Laura joined our Board of Directors in 2012, working as Regional Manager of Sales Support at RBC. Laura obtained her MBA from the Rotman School of Business, University of Toronto. Her recent promotion to Branch Manager demonstrates her expertise in finance, business, and risk management. Laura’s financial background and her previous Board involvement on the Economic Development Advisory Committee for Brantford make her a valued asset of our Board.

Linda Bullock

Linda joined our Board of Directors in 2015 after her retirement from 37 years of service at RBC. Linda brings extensive knowledge and financial expertise to the Board, developed throughout her career working in strategic planning, operations, and commercial banking. Linda has previously volunteered with the Hamilton Emergency Loan program, Chedoke McMaster Children’s Hospital, Kiwanis, and the Children’s Breakfast Program.

Sandra Karpis

Sandra, a CHRE designated Human Resource professional with 25 years’ experience, joined our Board of Directors in 2016. Sandra has been a member of the Human Resources Professionals Association since ’96 and is Vice President of Human Resources at CI Financial. Sandra is the Program Coordinator and a Mentor for CI Financial’s Women in Financial Services Mentoring Program and also volunteers as a mentor in HRPA’s mentoring program.

Michelle Barr

Michelle joined our Board of Directors in 2016, bringing with her a commitment to client advocacy, development, and success. Her broad understanding of autism and previous experience as a consultant at McMaster University working with children and youth with ASD greatly benefits the Board. Michelle works as a resource coordinator at Contact Niagara and a learning strategist at Mohawk College.

Dwain Burns

Dwain joined our Board of Directors in 2017. Dwain brings a variety of legal, not-for-profit, and governance experience to our Board, having been a member of the Board of Directors and past chair of the Hamilton East Kiwanis Boys and Girls Club. He participates actively in the community as a youth leader and fundraiser for various organizations. Dwain’s 20+ years of experience as a civil lawyer greatly complement our Board of Directors.

Annie Yu

Annie, a Health Sciences student at McMaster University, joined our Board of Directors in 2016. Annie brings a unique youth perspective and connection to the Board and is actively involved in youth leadership. Annie has volunteered with a variety of organizations including McMaster MakeBelieve, MacServe, and the Blue Ribbon Foundation.
